At Naviance we believe the focus should be on the whole child, and our mission is to increase student achievement by promoting a structured approach to course, college, and career advising. In the most recent issue of ASCD Express, the on-line journal of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Naviance CEO Stephen Smith argues that Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) are an essential element of a progressive approach to accountability in education. College-Going Culture Flourishes in Modesto PDF Print E-mail

During the past ten years, the Modesto City Schools have been engaged in a comprehensive effort to create a college-going culture for Modesto students. Thanks to the leadership of Modesto's counselors and adminstrators, and their use of Naviance, Modesto students are reaping rewards. Since 1999, the amount of scholarship and aid dollars for Modesto students have grown 440% to $28 million from just $6.3 million; college acceptance rates have increased 165% across all district high schools; and the number of Cal Grants offered to Modesto seniors has increased a remarkable 437%! Naviance is proud to be a part of Modesto's efforts to ensure that all students, including those who would be the first in their families to attend college, have access to higher education.
