December 8, 2006 > Naviance Expands Career Planning Offerings
Naviance is pleased to announce a unique, expanded version of Do What You Are that will greatly enhance a school's comprehensive counseling program. Beginning with a personality inventory, students are directed to possible career fields and can instantly find colleges that offer an educational path to those careers, eliminating the need to use multiple tools to create a complete career plan. September 18, 2006 > New Book Highlights Counselor's Office
In her new book, The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids, Alexandra Robbins shadows students at leading high schools outside Washington, DC and Chicago. Like most of America's leading high schools, the schools in Robbins' book use Counselor's Office, part of WorkspaceK12, and their students rely on the Family Connection sites the schools provide. By evaluating their high schools' historical admission data at the colleges they are considering, these students get much more meaningful information about their chances of admission than the national averages reveal. A past president of Minnesota Association for College Admission Counseling, Mary Docken served as Director of Admission at two colleges in the Midwest before becoming Director of College Counseling at Mounds Park Academy in St. Paul. Ricky Mott was most recently Assistant Director of Admission at University of Northern Colorado and on the executive board of Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling, and Erin Garland was formerly an admissions counselor for Loyola University New Orleans and a teacher at Archbishop Hannan High School in Louisiana. Using AmeriCorps volunteers, they serve 600 students a year in 9 public high schools in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
