Examining the School of the Future with the AASA Collaborative

What will schools look like 5, 10 or even 20 years from now? This is just the question that the The AASA Collaborative for Innovation and Transformational Leadership strives to address.

With the Collaborative, AASA, the School Superintendents Association, assembled superintendents from across the country to discuss school improvement, school transformation, and accountability in order to challenge what might be outdated traditions and practices. This group of “critical friends” often meets with transformation leaders, like Heidi Hayes-Jacobs and Yong Zhao, to discuss innovation in K-12 schools.

Under the leadership of Mort Sherman, AASA’s Associate Executive Director of Leadership Services and Awards, as well as Bena Kallick, Director of the Institute for Habits of Mind, this small group of leaders has made great strides over the years by participating in consultations for learning and growth, study groups on various topics, and day-long summits discussing school transformation.

Hobsons is a proud sponsor of the Collaborative and we look forward to hosting the group this summer at the Naviance Summer Institute in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Collaborative will participate in activities throughout NSI and lend its expertise during a formal panel discussion with NSI attendees.

Check out this video for more on what the AASA Collaborative members see as important for schools for the future.
