We need your vote! Held in Austin, Texas each year, the SXSWedu Conference promotes innovation in education through interactive workshops, film screenings, networking opportunities, and more with thousands of attendees from all over the U.S.
As part of this, SXSWedu opens up panel submissions to the public to help decide presentations. Hobsons needs your help in garnering support for our panels and spreading the word!
College Prep 2.0
This panel will bring together educators from Yes Prep North Central (Texas), Cincinnati Public Schools (Ohio), and Howard County Public Schools (Maryland) to discuss the innovative ways they prepare and motivate students for the future. In Cincinnati, the district has developed a playbook that provides students with personal learning plans. At Yes Prep North Central, the focus on college is deep in knowledge and celebration. Howard County counselors are helping homeless students identify their strengths and turn them into careers and college majors. The creative educators will share how they are using technology and cutting-edge advising strategies to inspire our next generation.
Connecting Childhood Dreams and the Real World
Featuring Stephen M. Smith, president of advising and admissions solutions at Hobsons, and other educators, filmmakers, and entrepreneurs, this panel will discuss bridging the gap between supporting passion and preparing learners in practical ways. We think it’s time to move past the either/or approach. Adults play an important role in ensuring that children are equipped to chase any dream no matter its size. By helping kids cultivate passions earlier, connect them to school, and build a roadmap to get there, we can make more dreams a reality.
